After winning an impressive 6-0 shut out their first game against Portland, Trenton bats went cold, managing just two runs in the final 18 outs of the series and dropping two of three to the Sea Dogs. 

With Reading (23-15) losing a nail biter in the 9^th and Birmingham (22-15) winning, the top three teams of the Eastern League standings are separated by a single game.

INF/OF Tyler Austin made his 2^nd rehab start at first base with Trenton, going 1 for 2 with a single.  Austin has earned a .400 AVG and .571 OBP in his limited at bats. 

2B Thairo Estrada continued his hot streak with 2 hits on Sunday’s loss, improving his season average to .346 with .427 OBP. 

3B Miguel Andujar has proven inconsistent this far in the season, seemingly refusing to hit unless there are runners in scoring position. Though he leads the team with 27 RBI, Andujar has struck out 24 times to go with his .243 AVG. To make matters worse, Andujar has been caught stealing 3 out of his 4 attempts. 

SS Gleyberr Torres has shown a healthy mix of power and speed. He leads Trenton with 5 HR, including a grand slam on Friday night.  Torres has also swiped 5 bags, albeit being caught trying 4 times. 

1B Mike Ford has proven the most consistent as the first quarter of the season wraps up. Ford is hitting .303 AVG with 16 RBI and 2 homers in his 109 at bats. Most impressive, perhaps, are his team leading 21 walks, giving him an on base percentage well over .400.

Trenton has an opportunity to gain some breathing room at top of the division when it hosts Reading for a 4 game set starting Monday, May 22^nd.  It will be the first time the two teams have faced off this year.
