Fireflies Start a Three Game Series Against Augusta Tonight

Augusta, GA – The Fireflies are taking the short trip to Augusta as they’re set to take on the GreenJackets in a three-game series before they return to Spirit Communications Park. Andrew Church (2-0, 0.71) is set to take the mound for Columbia, his opponent has yet to be named.

After being swept by Hagerstown over the weekend the Fireflies now sit at even .500 (28-28), their opponents meanwhile are just one game above .500 at 28-27.

Kevin Canelon (4-3. 3.16) is scheduled to take the mound in game two of the series, while Tyler Badamo (3-3, 3.52) is scheduled to finish out the series for the Fireflies.

The Fireflies are headed into Augusta looking to bounce back from the first time they’ve been swept this season. Despite solid pitching from starter P.J. Conlon and reliever Seth Davis, it wasn’t enough for the Fireflies as the Hagerstown Suns outlasted them in a twelve inning pitchers duel. Conlon pitched a gem through ten full innings in which he only gave up three hits, struck out five and brought his ERA to 1.21.
