Hockey Flyers 2015-16 Schedule Announced NHL announced 2015-16 schedules this week. by Chip Gianni June 26, 2015 The Philadelphia Flyers have announced their 2015-2016 National Hockey League schedule on Thursday. The Flyers will open their 49th season with a trip to Florida taking on the defending Eastern Conference Champions Tampa Bay Lightning on October 8 and then traveling down to Sunrise to take on the Florida Panthers on October 10 in the front half of a back to back. On October 12 the Flyers will return home to the Wells Fargo Center for their home opener against those same Panthers. The Flyers will face their Metropolitan Division opponents at least four times each twice at home and twice on the road, with the exception of two of those rivals where they will face them five times each. This season those two teams are the New York Rangers, who they will host three times and visit twice and the New York Islanders traveling to Brooklyn three times and hosting them twice. They will face the eight Atlantic Division teams times each 24 games and the 14 Western Conference teams two times each. The team has a pretty balanced schedule this season playing between 10 and 15 games each full month of the season. Their busiest month on the road will be November, with eight road games, while they will be busiest at home in February with eight games at the Wells Fargo Center. The club will play 15 sets of back-to-back games this season as well. The defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks will visit the City of Brotherly Love on October 14. The Flyers’ annual Black Friday game will take place on November 27 at 3:00 PM against the Nashville Predators. After that first two-game Florida trip, the Flyers play six of their next seven games at home before they embark on their first extended road trip from October 30 to November 7, when the take their Western Canada trip by way of Buffalo. From December 24 until January 2, the Flyers will travel to California while Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic takes over the Wells Fargo Center. In the second half of the season the team will have a season high six-game homestand from February 25 through March 7, before playing seven of their next nine over 15 days on the road. After returning from that trip, five of the seven final games will be played at the Wells Fargo Center, including the season final versus the Pittsburgh Penguins on April 9. The 39th Annual Flyers Wives Carnival will take place at the Wells Fargo Center on March 13. The team will release the nation and local broadcast schedule at a later time this summer.
