Flyers Make First Official Cuts from Training Camp

After the first preseason game (a 3-0 loss to the Islanders) the Flyers made four roster cuts.

Three junior players were sent to their CHL teams: Matthew Strome (Hamilton), Maksim Sushko (Owen Sound) and Wyatte Wiley (Everett).

Sushko was the only one here who played in the first official preseason match. He got 11:35 in ice time and blocked a shot.

The fourth cut was ATO goaltender Liam Hughes. This brings the roster to 53 players.

Travis Sanheim left yesterdays preseason game with an injury after being boarded by Matt Martin. Hextall says he’ll miss about a week. Sanheim will be good for the regular season, but will miss some practice time.

The Flyers will play the Islanders again tonight, this time with some of the bigger names and roster locks starting. Carter Hart should get some net time.
