Football Giants & Jets Looking to Make History With Super Bowl The Giants and Jets have combined a bid for the 2014 Super Bowl. by Staff Post May 12, 2010 The New York Giants and New York Jets have officially sent their final bid for the 2014 Super Bowl to NFL headquarters today. The two teams would like to host the big game at their new $1.6 billion stadium. The theme behind the bid is “Make Some History.” It’s a fitting theme since there would be some history behind it if they Giants and Jets bid is accepted. If accepted, it would be the first cold weather Super Bowl at a stadium without a dome. In my opinion, weather is really the only question mark. The New York / New Jersey area is a great spot for the big game. There are many places in which events could be held during the week leading up to the game. The Jacob K. Javits Center, IZOD Center, and Ellis Island and Liberty State Park are a few of the big name areas. Also mentioned in the bid is the American Museum of Natural History. Due to the potential for cold weather, the bid also includes plans to distribute hand and feet warmers, blankets, and self-warming seat cushions to fans. They also mention having fire pits set up in the parking lots. Not sure thats such a great idea but hey, its something. My question to all of you readers out there is, should the NFL allow the Super Bowl to be played in a cold weather area? Isn’t football meant to be played in cold weather? Would you still attend the game in New York, or would you only go to warm weather areas to watch the Super Bowl? I want to hear everyone’s opinion.
