THIS. IS. AMAZING.

Brooklyn’s own First Lady of Boxing, Heather “The Heat” Hardy has signed with Bellator MMA.

Hardy will make her MMA debut against Alice Yauger. The flyweight bout will be featured on Bellator 180, the SpikeTV portion of Bellator NYC. The second pay-per-view in Bellator history airs live from Madison Square Garden on June 24.

MMAFighting.com reported the news after Yahoo! Sports made the first announcement.

“The Heat” is undefeated with 20 straight wins in boxing and holds the WBC women’s super bantamweight championship. She was originally set to make her MMA debut in January with the all-female promotion, Invicta FC. Just two days before the bout was set to take place, her opponent withdrew due to injury

Since picking up her 20th win last week at Broadway Boxing against Edina Kiss, Hardy has hinted a possible fight under the Bellator banner. Invicta FC confirmed that although her bout fell through, it was a one time deal. Hardy became a free agent afterwards.

Yauger (4-5 MMA) is coming off a decision loss in January to Jessica Middleton.

From Boxing to MMA

This is the picture perfect way for “The Heat” to make her debut into the mixed martial arts world. From growing over the years, she is known for her huge fan base in the NYC area.

The Brooklyn native, 35, has been very open about her feelings on the boxing world in recent months. Aside from the issues between boxing promotions and the New York State Athletic Commission, Hardy has faced her own challenge as being a female in the male dominated sport.
