Football How Can The Jets Defeat New England in Foxboro? by Staff Post October 23, 2015 Foxboro Stadium Buckle up. The Jets have arguably their toughest game of the season this weekend as they head up to Foxboro to take on the New England Patriots. The Jets are going into the weekend with a somewhat surprising 4-1 record and the Patriots are undefeated at 5-0. Out of the five undefeated teams remaining, many say that the Patriots are the best so the Jets will have their work cut out for them. If the Jets win, the two teams will have a share of first place. If the Jets want to win this Sunday, here are a few keys to the game. Chris Ivory – Chris Ivory has been one of the best running backs in the NFL this season. He has the third most rushing yards this year at 460 only behind Matt Forte of the Bears (507) and Devonta Freeman of the Falcons (505). And keep in mind that Ivory did not even play week three against the Dolphins because of an injury. For the Jets to win on Sunday, Ivory has to keep up his good play. It’s the same formula for success every week. Run the ball with Ivory, and have Fitzpatrick throw the ball to keep the defense off balance. They cannot rely on Fitzpatrick to win them a game. If Ivory doesn’t run the ball well, then the Jets will lose. And if Chris Ivory runs the ball effectively, that means the clock will be running and Tom Brady will have less time on the field. Defense – We all know how dangerous Tom Brady is. I don’t care how good the Jets defense has been this year, Brady is more than capable of torching them. The defense has to show up to the game 100% prepared. I also think that is important that the Jets force at least one turnover. Brady has only thrown one interception all season and the Patriots have only lost two fumbles all season so it will tough to force a turnover. But if the Jets are able to keep Brady off the field by running the ball and they do force a turnover, then they will have a chance at winning. Turnovers – The Jets’ offense cannot turn the ball over like they did last week against the Redskins. Tom Brady is way too good of a quarterback to beat if he is given two or three extra possessions. Now I’m sure that some of last week’s turnovers had something to do with rust and the fact that the Jets were coming off their bye week. But it simply cannot happen this week. They need to play a clean game when it comes to turnovers. If they turn the ball over more than once on Sunday, then they will lose. Simple as that. Here’s my prediction: The Patriots are a very good team this year. I think they are the best in the NFL. And the fact that it is a road game for the Jets just adds to the challenge. But I do not think it will be a blowout. Patriots win 21-17.
