Football Jets/Redskins Preview: Jets Defense and Running Game Should Dominate by Staff Post October 16, 2015 Chris Ivory (AP Photo/Kathy Willens) When I picked the Jets to win at least nine games before the season started, one of my reasons was that the strength of schedule is in their favor. This is one of those games. The Jets are coming off a bye week and are fully rested and ready to go. For the Jets to win their fourth game of the season, here are the keys to victory. Defense – The Redskins offense doesn’t have too much fire power with Kirk Cousins under center. His arm isn’t too strong and he underthrows/throws behind a lot of receivers. I think that the Jets secondary will have a lot of opportunities to force turnovers. And on top of that, the Jets defensive line should have a field day on the Redskins’ offensive line. Keep in mind that the Jets stacked d-line is getting Sheldon Richardson back this weekend as he makes his season debut. The Redskins will not be able to run or throw the ball too well against this defense. Chris Ivory – Chris Ivory had a career game two weeks ago against the Dolphins in London as he rushed for over 160 yards. It will be interesting to see how Ivory follows up that kind of a performance. But I think Chris Ivory will have another good game. He is fully rested thanks to the bye week and the Jets are a run first team. Ivory will get plenty of opportunities on Sunday to be a difference maker. And when the Jets run the ball well, they win. The one loss the Jets had this year was because Ivory was injured and the Jets were forced to pass the ball more than he could. Sheldon Richardson – As mentioned earlier, Sheldon Richardson’s four game suspension for marijuana use is over and he will be back on the field for the Jets. It will be interesting to see how he plays in his first game back. I’m sure that he wants to make up for some lost time. There really is no need to think too far into this game. If both teams play their best game, the Jets will win. It’s really as simple as that. Here’s my official prediction: Jets win by a score of 27-10.
