MMA Joanna Jedrzejczyk returns to Madison Square Garden for UFC 217 Joanna Champion is 14-0 inside the octagon by Daniel Yanofsky September 12, 2017 Joanna Jedrzejczyk will look to make history inside MSG (UFC.com) UFC’s return to New York City on November 4 already has two big title fights. It looked like someone was missing from that card, however. You can’t have an event inside Madison Square Garden without the true Queen of New York. The company seems to agree, as Joanna Jedrzejczyk will return to the Big Apple. She will defend her UFC Strawweight Title against Rose Namajunas at UFC 217. It was rumored a few months ago that Joanna (14-0) would take a trip back to New York, but nothing was certain. Joanna herself confirmed the news earlier today on Twitter, thanks to Fox Sports. httpss://twitter.com/UFCONFOX/status/907574541668327424 One of the most impressive fighters in UFC history, Joanna is in a league of her own. Her dominance is otherworldly. The last time Joanna fought was at UFC 211, beating Jessica Andrade via unanimous decision. This is her homecoming fight, as her last MSG appearance was a hard-fought victory against Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 205. Joanna Jedrzejczyk is looking to tie Ronda Rousey’s record of six consecutive title defenses. Conor McGregor made history at MSG last year, why can’t Joanna Champion? That’s not to say that Namajunas (6-3) is a pushover. There are many who expected a rematch between Karolina and Joanna. One thing they should not be is disappointed with Rose and the promise she has. After losing to the aforementioned Karolina at UFC 201, Rose gained her momentum back by besting Michelle Waterson at UFC on Fox 24. All six of her fights that she has won has been via submission. Joanna’s only submission victory came in 2012 against Lily Kazak. UFC 217 has a lot of potential. It could even top it’s predecessor. The headline fight features Michael Bisping defending his UFC Middleweight Title against Georges St-Pierre, while Cody Garbrandt defends his Bantamweight Championship against T.J. Dillashaw. Tickets for UFC 217 go on sale this week! Due to high demand, you should be at your computer when tickets go on sale to the public this Friday.
