Basketball Knicks Win Back to Back Games over the Bulls! by Renee Washington March 25, 2016 The Knicks defeated the Bulls back to back on Wednesday night and again last night. Last night they won 106-94. Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 26 points and 8 rebounds and Kristaps Porzingiz chipped in with 19 points. Derrick Williams, Jose Calderon, and Arron Afflalo added 13, 12, and 11 points, respectively. Derrick Rose led all scorers with 30 points for the Bulls. Jimmy Butler had a better performance last night as he knocked down 19 points and Taj Gibson added 10. Wednesday night the New York Knicks defeated the Chicago Bulls 115-107 in an exciting game at the United Center in Chicago. Rookie Kristaps Porzingis tied his career high with 29 points on a remarkable 11-for-16 shooting along with 10 rebounds. Prior to Wednesday night, Porzingis was shooting just 33 percent from the field in the previous nine games. The win over the Bulls was the first double-double since February 7 for the 7-foot-3 center. One more point and Porzingis could have been the first rookie since Knicks standout Patrick Ewing, to score 30 points and grab 10 rebounds in one game for the program. Carmelo Anthony chipped in with 24 points and 5 assists. The Knicks also outrebounded the Bulls 53-34. They led by as many as 22 points in the second half. The Bulls cut the lead down to 10 late in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough. Nikola Mirotic scored a career-high 35 points on the night with 9 of 13 from 3-point range. He tied a franchise record for nine 3-pointers made in one game. Derrick Rose added 21 points. It was an off night for Bulls forward and all-star selection Jimmy Butler (although he could not play in the All Star games due to injury) as he only finished with seven points on 3-of-11 shooting. The Knicks advance to 30-43 with the wins. Wednesday night’s win was the first win in four games, but they are still out of the running to make the playoffs this year for the third straight season. It seems as though the Knicks are not getting any closer to being a championship contender. However, they are messing up other teams chances at the playoffs, like the Bulls. The Bulls are now 1 1/2games behind Detroit for the eighth playoff spot in the eastern conference. Good news for the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony’s recent interviews indicate that he is not ready to leave New York yet, despite their losing seasons. Anthony has stated that he has “unfinished business” and that he does not want to give up on his team yet. Although he is still counting on the front office to bring in a strong player in the offseason, he seems loyal to the Knicks in this rebuilding process and wants to stick it out.
