No, your eyes did not deceive you. Those were New York Liberty stars Tina Charles and Epiphanny Prince sporting the special 20th anniversary all-green home jerseys that will be worn in Madison Square Garden for the upcoming WNBA 2016 season.

As one of the three charter members of the premier women’s basketball league, the Liberty, along with the Phoenix Mercury and Los Angeles Sparks, will feature a team-specific patch on the front left chest to honor their historical place in the WNBA.

The Liberty, who will wear all-green at home and all-black on the road, joins ten of the twelve teams who will be introducing new colors for this landmark season through Adidas, the official on-court apparel provider of the WNBA. Only the Los Angeles Sparks and San Antonio Stars will be bypassed since they already possess all-color uniforms.

In addition, marquee partner, Verizon, will show their brand commemorating the 20th anniversary to appear on the front of the ten team uniforms. Spalding and Adidas will add a new game ball embossed with the 20th season logo which will be available to purchase on the WNBAStore.com during April and debuting on the court starting April 29, in the preseason. T-Shirts and headwear will also be online for fans to buy.

There will also be 150 limited-edition sneakers featuring a black, orange, and white design for league auctions and local team activities.

The Liberty open their 20th WNBA season on the road at Washington on Saturday,  May 14 and the home opener will be on May 15, at 5pm, at Madison Square Garden against the Dallas Wings, formally the Tulsa Shock.
