Lancaster, Penn. – An eighth-inning rally for the Somerset Patriots (27-30, 70-58) led the way in a 7-6 victory over the Lancaster Barnstormers (32-26, 70-58) Monday afternoon at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Somerset opened the scoring with a five-run top of the third inning. Aharon Eggleston (4) led off the inning with a solo home run to right-center field, before Kyle Roller lined a three-run double to left-center field. Mark Minicozzi added a sacrifice fly later in the inning to top off the five-run third. Lancaster responded with five unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game. A three-run home run from Josh Bell (5) in the fourth brought the Barnstormers within two at the time. A run-scoring error and a two-out RBI single from Lance Zawadzki in the fifth leveled the score at 5-5. The game remained tied at five until the top of the eighth inning. After Olmo Rosario led off the inning with a triple, three-straight walks – including a bases-loaded walk to Yovan Gonzalez – gave Somerset a 6-5 lead. Carlos Guzman added a sac fly one batter later to increase the Patriots’ lead to 7-5. Garrett Weber (15) led off the bottom of the ninth inning with an opposite field solo home run, but Nate Coronado grounded into a game-ending double-play with the tying run at second to end it. Duane Below (5-1) earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief. Scott Shuman (3-1) took the loss after he allowed one hit and three walks without recording an out. Dustin Antolin (2) earned his second save of the season by shutting the door in the ninth inning.
