Lehigh Valley Phantoms to Host 2017 AHL All Star Game

a47e271c-1637-484f-bb03-b949dd9bda4eThe American Hockey League and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms announced on Saturday that the 2017 All Star Game will be held at the PPL Center on January 30, 2017.

The 2017 All Star Weekend will feature a Phanfest on Saturday January 28, with the Skills Competition on Sunday January 29 and the All Star Game on Monday January 30. AHL President and Chief Executive Officer, David Andrews said, “We are proud of the success of the Phantoms in quickly building one of the strongest and most vibrant fan bases in the AHL.”

He added, “The beautiful PPL Center and surrounding amenities will provide a fantastic home for the AHL All Star Classic, and we look forward to showcasing our best players, our rich history and the Lehigh Valley to fans from around the league and an international television audience next January.”

Phantoms’ Co-Owner and Governor, Jim Brooks said, “Being selected to host the All Star Classic is a honor and we are excited for the positive impact it will have on our community. We look forward to spotlighting the Lehigh Valley and showcasing the premiere talent of the AHL on an international stage.”

The 2017 AHL All Star Classic will feature many of the young stars around the league. Since 1995, more than 95 percent of the participants in the AHL All Star Classic have gone on to careers within the National Hockey League. Some of those stars include, New Jersey Devils goaltender, Cory Schneider, New York Ranger Forwards, Eric Stahl and Mats Zuccarello and New Jersey native Bobby Ryan.

The AHL has continued to be the NHL’s top developmental league since 1936, with over 88 percent of NHL players rising through the ranks of the AHL. 2015-2016 marked the 15th straight year in which more than six million fans across North America attended an AHL game.

Co-Owner and Governor, Rob Brooks said, “We would like to thanks our fans, supporters and talented staff for creating a fun and energetic atmosphere in the PPL Center that has been noticed by the American Hockey League.”

Ticket prices start at 67 dollars and include admission to Saturday January 28th Phanfest and tailgate party, Sunday January 29th Skills Competition and Monday January 30th All Star Game.
