Basketball Liberty Keeps Three As Montgomery, Lacy, and Warley Re-Sign On the heels of the loss of Plenette Pierson to the Tulsa Shock via free agency, New York got to work on retaining three more of their free agents, guards Alex Montgomery and Natasha Lacy with backup forward Avery Warley. by Staff Post February 12, 2015 Photo Credit: Jason DeCrow On the heels of the loss of Plenette Pierson to the Tulsa Shock via free agency, New York got to work on retaining three more of their free agents, guards Alex Montgomery and Natasha Lacy with backup forward Avery Warley. Montgomery was essential for her size and athleticism at the shooting guard position. Though her numbers were not as impressive and her starting position was lost by mid year, her rebounding ability as a shut down defender was mostly unsung. “We are expecting her to be a key piece for us moving forward,” Senior Vice President of Business and Basketball Operations Kristin Bernert said regarding Montgomery. “Over four seasons she has developed into a lock down defender with a nice three-point shot.” Natasha Lacy showed in brief flashes an explosive first step and penetrating ability that should help break down defenses and bring much needed energy off the bench. Avery Warley-Talbert, was one of the most improved players offensively for New York last season. Known mostly for providing rebounding and a physical presence, she started to show the ability to gain crucial inside points. “Avery and Natasha were solid contributors at the end of last season,” Bernert explained. “They earned their return.” All three will be essential as their experience here makes for an easier transition. “We are excited to have these three veterans return for next season,” head coach Bill Laimbeer gushed. “They are familiar with our style of play and will be important for continuing to build the culture of our franchise.” Post Views: 1,101 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Staff Post Latest posts by Staff Post (see all) In The Zone Announces Initial Podcast Lineup - November 13, 2020 The Essential Resources You Need to Start Your Own Gym in 2020 - February 6, 2020 Wilder vs Fury II – How the second fight will be different to the first? - February 5, 2020 Early turnovers, defensive struggles plague the Scarlet Knights - January 26, 2020 Related TopicsAlex MontgomeryAvery WarleyAvery Warley-TalbertNatasha LacyNew York LibertyPlenette PiersonTulsa Shock Click to comment You must be logged in to post a comment Login Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
