Hockey Miye D’Oench Signs with New York Riveters by Chip Gianni April 29, 2016 Miye D’Oench (NWHL) The New York Riveters signed newly acquired Miye D’Oench to a one-year contract worth 10,000 dollars for the season. D’Oench was acquired by the Riveters as part of the trade, in which they sent the rights to Alex Carpenter to the Boston Pride, earlier in the day on Thursday. In 135 games with Harvard, she scored 122 points. D’Oench was drafted by the Pride with the 15th overall pick in the 2015 National Women’s Hockey League Draft. She said, “I grew up in New York, and all my life I have been a huge Rangers fan. Next year I get to represent New York and be part of the history of women’s sports. That is what I am mostly excited about. On top of that, I get to play the game I love for at least another year.” D’Oench becomes the second pick from the 2015 NWHL Draft, to sign a contract for the upcoming season. Amanda Leveille was the first when she signed with the Buffalo Beauts earlier on Thursday. The Restricted free agency period lasts for two more days, before the unrestricted free agency period begins for the league on May, 1. The 2016 NWHL Junior Draft will take place on June 18.
