Jedrzejczyk II set for UFC 223 in Brooklyn Joanna looks to regain the Strawweight Title and the last name “Champion” against Rose Namajunas at UFC 223 by Daniel Yanofsky January 20, 2018 It didn’t take long for UFC 223 to get it’s co-main event announced. It also didn’t take long for Joanna Jedrzejczyk to get her highly anticipated rematch. UFC President Dana White announced at the companies 25th anniversary press conference that Rose Namajunas will defend her Strawweight Title against Jedrzejczyk at UFC 223 inside the Barclays Center. If you recall, “Thug Rose” (7-3) easily dispatched of Joanna (14-1) three minutes into the opening round at UFC 217 via TKO. Rose has won five of her last seven matches, and looks to prove her recent win was not a fluke. Her calm demeanor carried her to a victory, and another win over Joanna would cement her legacy. UFC 217, which held one of the best main cards in MMA history, also took place in New York, inside Madison Square Garden. A shocked MSG crowd watched in awe as Joanna Champion, who was one win away from tying Ronda Rousey’s record for consecutive title defenses, went down in the blink of an eye. It was the theme of the night. Speaking of Rousey, Joanna is being praised for how she handled the loss, becoming the anti-Rousey. She immediately jumped in on social media when the fight was announced. Joanna is looking to get back on the Iron Throne that Namajunas currently sits on. httpss://twitter.com/joannamma/status/954486398047932417 Before her loss, Joanna won 14 consecutive fights inside the octagon.
