Chris Drury has moved up the totem pole of the Rangers organization today with the announcement that he is the Assistant General Manager working alongside Jeff Gorton.

Drury, a former Rangers player, was given the position of Director of Player Development about a year ago and since that time has done enough to warrant a step up the ladder.

According to the team press release Drury’s role will now include “continuing to assist in the development of Rangers prospects, both on and off the ice, and serve as a liaison between the hockey operations department and prospects in the organization.”

Drury is the perfect player to act in this role. He is a Tri-State area native (grew up in Connecticut), is a hockey lifer, a cup winner, a silver medal winner in the Olympics and one of the most respected and well known names in the hockey community.

The Rangers were smart to give Drury this chance, and like so many other facets of his life before, I am sure Drury will continue to excel personally and for the organization.
