Hayley Moore

The National Women’s Hockey League announced on Thursday that Hayley Moore, has been named Deputy Commissioner and Director of Player Development for the league.

Moore, who in the first two seasons of the NWHL, served as the general manager for the Boston Pride. The Pride won the Isobel Cup in the first season and was a finalist this past season during Moore’s tenure with the club. The team put up a 30-4-1 record during the first two regular seasons on the league.

In her new position, Moore will become the liaison between the league and all four teams, as they deal with the hiring, scouting, player development, free agency, trades and the draft. She will also be responsible for game and event scheduling, the development of grassroots women’s hockey programs, and building on the relationship between the league and the governing bodies for women’s hockey programs, collegiate and other national organizations.

NWHL Commissioner, Dani Rylan said, “I am very pleased that Hayley has accepted this important role as deputy commissioner. Anyone who has worked with Hayley knows she is a star in the sports business; smart, dedicated, passionate and determined. As we continue to build the NWHL, Hayley will continue to be an extremely influential executive.”    

In addition to her work with the NWHL, Moore is the director of women’s and girls’ hockey for the Boston based East Coast Wizards. The program has won four national titles, in three years, under her direction.

She had a four-year playing career at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island as well as a three-year coaching stint, as an assistant coach with Harvard University. In 2014 and 2015 she was a skills coach at the USA Hockey National Development Camps, which she will continue to do this summer.   

Moore said, “Being part of the NWHL over the last two years has been one of the most powerful experiences of my life. To have the opportunity to work with these incredibly dedicated, professional women and grow the game that I love is a huge honor. The future of our sport is so bright, and I look forward to taking on this new role with the league.”

Moore will continue to be based out of Boston in her new role with the NWHL.
