Patrick Palmeiro coaxed a bases loaded walk in the in the bottom of the second inning to get the Skeeters on the scoreboard and make the contest 7-1. Two more runs were tacked on by the visitors in the third inning as Vidal and Aharon Eggleston recorded RBI singles. After a Beamer Weems RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning, the very next batter was Palmeiro and he launched a grand slam (6) to cut the deficit to 9-6 which would be the final.
