Baseball Staten Island Back on Winning Track After Couple Losses by Staff Post August 8, 2016 After suffering a 8-1 loss on Friday Night against Williamsport and a 7-1 loss on Saturday Night against Lowell, the Staten Island Yankees bounced back nicely, defeating Lowell 6-0. Those two losses were crucial as Hudson Valley has won three games in a row and are one game up on the Yankees for the division lead. Adonis De la Rosa got the call Sunday, and pitched a fantastic 6 innings of shutout baseball. He also struck six batters out, en route to his 4th win of the season. David Sosebee and and Brooks Kriske combined three innings of shutout pitching in relief. The Baby Bombers got off to a quick start as Nick Solak hit his third home run of the year in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Yankees would add 2 more runs in the bottom of the 5th on Angel Augilar’s 4th double of the season. He would later come home to score as Ben Ruta singled. The Yankees would not look back adding another run in the 6th and two more insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th inning. Four Yankee batters had 2 hits on the day, as they overall had 11 hits. The Yankees came up big in what was a must-win game for them. They have been going back and forth with Hudson Valley for the better part of the last six weeks and with only one month left of the season, the Yankees will need to string more wins together to win the division. With zero games remaining against Hudson Valley, the Yankees must continue their winning ways. They are set to square off against Lowell tonight at 7:05 PM.
