67blogsrecapBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots (28-18) defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish (26-21) 7-2 at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday afternoon.

Adam Donachie got the scoring started early for the Patriots with an RBI double to left field in the first inning. Greg Golson and Tyler Bortnick then followed with RBI base hits to put Somerset up 3-0.

“I just got lucky getting up in some big situations and today was my day to produce,” said Donachie, who finished the game 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI.

The Patriots added two runs to the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on Donachie’s RBI single up the middle and a sacrifice fly by Bortnick that made the score 5-0.

Somerset extended the lead in the sixth inning on RBI singles by Mark Minicozzi and Carlos Guzman for a 7-0 advantage.

The Bluefish got on the board in the eighth inning on sacrifice flies by Luis Hernandez and D’Arby Myers to cut the lead to 7-2, which was the final.

Rick Teasley (4-1) picked up the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and five strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched.

“He was mixing in his pitches well. We were working with what he’s got. He’s keeping them off balance. You have to give him credit. The pitches I’m calling, he’s executing where they need to be and we’re just riding the wave right now,” Donachie added.

Tyler Badamo (1-3) suffered the loss after giving up five earned runs on nine hits in five innings pitched.
