Riversharks Pile It On In Extras To Beat Patriots 8-4

8615newsBridgewater, NJ – The Camden Riversharks (8-18, 37-59) defeated the Somerset Patriots (15-11, 65-31) 8-4 in 13 innings Thursday afternoon at TD Bank Ballpark.

 

In the top of the fifth inning left fielder Daniel Rockett recorded a RBI sacrifice fly to give Camden a 1-0 advantage.

 

Right fielder Michael Burgess blasted a game tying home run (8) in the bottom of the seventh inning to even the score at 1-1.

 

Second baseman Paddy Matera pounded a two run home run (3) in the top of the 10th inning to give Camden a 3-1 lead.

 

The Patriots responded with a two run home run of their own off the bat of designated hitter Mat Gamel (6) to tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the 10th inning.

 

Camden sent 10 men to the plate to score five runs in the top of the 13th inning as all five occurred with two outs making the score 8-3. Rockett blooped a RBI single, right fielder Carlos Guzman pounded a three RBI double and designated hitter Joel Guzman sliced a RBI double.

 

Burgess slugged a RBI double cutting the deficit to 8-4 in the bottom of the 13th inning.

 

Michael Click earned the win (4-1) in relief. Jon Hunton (1-3) sustained the loss in relief.
