Desmond Green (Sherdog) Another hometown athlete will be fighting on his turf when the UFC returns to New York. Rochester-native Desmond Green will make his UFC debut at UFC 210 in Buffalo, NY on April 8th. The PPV will take place at the KeyBank Center. The Buffalo News sent out a report of the announcement. UFC 210 will be the third major PPV event in New York for the UFC since MMA became legalized (UFC 205, 208). This will also be the fourth event overall in New York, the other being UFC Fight Night 102. Green (19-5) will face Josh Emmett (11-0) in a Lightweight bout. “The Predator” previously fought at Featherweight and Lightweight for Bellator MMA and Titan Fighting Championship. Along with several fighters, Green was let go by Bellator MMA in 2014. He joined TFC in September of that year and became the first Titan FC Featherweight Champion, defeating UFC veteran Steven Siler. Six weeks before that, Green defeated Miguel Torres via knockout in 46 seconds in his debut for the company. The 27-year old Green was a wrestler for the University at Buffalo, where he was a MAC Champion and a 3x Division 1 NCAA Qualifier. Desmond Green joins fellow New Yorker Chris Weidman on the card. Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson will be the main event as they face off for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title. What a way to make your UFC debut; fighting in front of your friends and family. There are sure to be plenty of emotions. It will be very interesting to see how he handles his new environment.
