Baseball SI Yankees Sweep Aberdeen, Take Wild Card Lead by Staff Post August 26, 2016 The Baby Bombers dominated Thursday Night, as they were able to sweep the series and shut out Aberdeen 4-0. This was a much needed series sweep as the S.I. Yankees had been previously swept by Connecticut the weekend prior. This win puts the Yankees 2.5 games over Connecticut for the Wild Card Lead. They still trail Hudson Valley by 4.5 games, as the Renegades have won nine in a row. Simon De La Rosa pitched six shutout innings, including 7 strikeouts as he picked up his sixth win of the year. Joe Harvey pitched a scoreless 7th and 8th inning, and David Sosebee would close it out in the 9th. Overall, it was a masterful pitching performance for the Yankees. The Yankees got on board in the bottom of the 1st on a Timmy Robinson single. The Yankees would add two more runs in the 3rd and one in the 6th to go up 4-0. The Yankees had 11 hits on the night, with Kane Sweeney leading the way to a perfect 3-3 ball game. Three other Yankee batters had 2 hits a piece. The Yankees are now 37-27 on the year. They will face the league’s worst team, Batavia for a three-game set. This is a great opportunity for the Yankees to gain more ground in the Wild Card. Padilla is set to pitch tonight. Game time is 7:05 PM.
