On Wednesday, the Staten Island Yankees matched up against the Vermont Lake Monsters in a game where the Yanks came out on top, 3-2.

Alexander Vargas led the unstoppable Yankees, who are now a short Single-A best 17-5, by picking up another win against Vermont. Vargas improved his season record to 4-0.

The Dominican righty threw six shutout innings, giving up only four hits and striking out four.

The Staten Island Yankees will try to take the series when these two team face each other again Thursday night at 7:00 pm at Richmond Park. On the mound for the Yankees will be Daniel Alvarez the righty who has a 1-0 record with a 3.12 ERA.

The Vermont Lake Monsters will send Adbiel Mendoza, who has a 1-1 record with a 3.57 ERA, to the hill.
