MMA Strawweight Showdown in Brooklyn: Karolina Kowalkiewicz set to face Felice Herrig at UFC 223 There will be two huge strawweight bouts inside the Barclays Center at UFC 223 by Daniel Yanofsky January 23, 2018 The women’s strawweight division of the UFC will look to make a big impact inside the Barclays Center on April 7th. At UFC 223, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, one of the toughest fighters in the 115-pound division, will face former kickboxer Felice Herrig. Both fighters are looking to show why they should be contending for their divisions top prize. Herrig (14-6) has won four straight bouts and five of her last six fights. Four of her 14 wins have come via submission, while nine have come via decision. It will be a big test for her if she can last the whole fight against a former contender in Karolina. The “Polish Princess” (11-2) won her first ten fights before losing to Joanna for the title at UFC 205 inside Madison Square Garden. She lost her next fight to Claudia Gadelha at UFC 212, before storming back with a win over Jodie Esquibel back in October. The last time Karolina was in New York she blew the roof off of MSG. Can she create magic once again, this time with a win against Felice Herrig? If all goes according to plan, every women in this event will steal the show. The names are great, but the action is what everyone will hopefully be talking about. This is the second strawweight bout confirmed for UFC 223, the other being Rose Namajunas defending her Strawweight Title against Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The main event features a Lightweight Championship bout between Tony Ferguson and challenger Khabib Nurmagomedov.
