Turn 2 Foundation Hosts Annual Wrapping Event at Yankee Stadium

Kids across the country will have Christmas presents under their trees thanks to legendary Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter and his foundation.

High school students dressed in Christmas attire spread a little holiday cheer at Yankee Stadium yesterday. Students participated in the program as part of ‘Jeter’s Leaders,’ a group of students in the Turn 2 Foundation.They packed up over 1,000 backpacks full of Christmas gifts for younger kids who they help mentor.

Turn 2 Foundation is a charitable organization founded by New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter in 1996. The Foundation was established to help children and teenagers avoid drug and alcohol addiction, and to reward those who show high academic achievement and adopt healthier lifestyles.

Sharlee Jeter, Derek Jeter’s sister and President of the Turn 2 Foundation, congratulated the high school students for their year long work and dedication to the program. Sharlee even when on the say ” The kids that will receive these gifts, will have a very memorable Christmas thanks to you guys”.

It was a surreal moment watching all the teens look like Santa’s little helpers. After assembling the gift bags, members of Jeter’s Leaders were treated to a pre-holiday party in Yankee Stadium’s Legends Suite.

The gift bags consist of baseball cards, baseballs, toy trucks, stuffed bears and Yankee hats.

The presents will be shipped to kids in New York City, Michigan and Florida just in time for Christmas.
