Get ready, Long Islanders. The UFC is coming to the island this summer.

The UFC will visit Long Island for the first time at UFC on FOX 25 on July 22 at the new Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale.

Newsday first reported the announcement on Friday.

While no official announcement has been made, BJPenn.com writer Chris Taylor suggests that two non-NYers will headline the card. A featherweight bout between the Korean Zombie and Ricardo Lamas.

One would think the result of UFC 210’s co-main event between LI native and former champion Chris Weidman and middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi would determine the main event for the Long Island card. If not Weidman than another Tri-state UFC fighter on the roster.

(Someone must’ve read this article and thought it was a good idea *wink*)

In the coming weeks, let’s keep our fingers crossed to see this card stack up with local talent.

This will be the UFC’s fifth visit to New York since November. Other cards included the historical UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden and UFC 208 at the Barclays Center in February.
