UFC 217 – NYC (rds.ca) The last time the UFC was at Madison Square Garden, history was made. Along with some epic contests, Conor McGregor walked out of New York as a two-weight champion. The UFC will be looking to create more moments when they return to The World’s Most Famous Arena later this year. In the middle of the UFC 214 broadcast, it was announced that UFC 217 will take place at MSG on November 4th. This will be the UFC’s sixth event in New York since MMA was legalized in the state. Since having an event at MSG, the company has also been to Albany, Brooklyn, Buffalo and most recently Long Island. Many are wondering what matches will take place at MSG. There have been rumors of Cody Garbrandt coming to New York for the event. After a win at UFC Long Island, will we see Chris Weidman at another New York card? What about Frankie Edgar? It looks like we won’t have to wait long to find out who will be competing. After a disappointing bout between Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia, Dana White stated that a match between the Welterweight Champion and the returning Georges St. Pierre is off the table. Now, a match we here at Double G Sports reported about a few months ago may be actually happening. Michael Bisping will reportedly defend his Middleweight Title against GSP. httpss://twitter.com/arielhelwani/status/891573424824266752 Robert Whittaker is currently healing from his injuries and Yoel Romero is coming off of a loss against him. At this moment, GSP seems to be the most likely fit for Bisping. While fans are craving for a Romero or even a Weidman bout, a returning GSP could spark a lot of interest and potentially bring revenue up. UFC 205 generated a live gate of $17.7 million, which broke records for the company and at MSG. Since McGregor will most likely not be on the card this time, the UFC will have to pull out all the stops. Maybe Joanna Jedrzejczyk will get the call once again. The UFC has a lot of work to do from now until then. Who do you want to see at UFC 217?
