On April 6, 2017 it was announced that the Yankees had placed one of their top pitching prospect on the Minor Leagues disabled list because of a pain on his right elbow.

James Kaprielian who will undergo an MRI, as it was announce by the club, is the number 6 prospect in the New York Yankees organization and the number 56 prospect in baseball, according to MLBPipeline.com.

He has been there before, Kaprielian who for the most part throws the ball hard, missed most of the 2016 season due to a right flexor tendon strain. Kaprielian has made just 14 professional appearances since he was drafted as the No.16 overall pick in 2015.

He posted a 3.00 ERA in three starts while playing  Class A Advanced in Tampa during the 2016 season. He then had a 4.33 ERA during the Arizona Fall League where he had seven starts. He had a successful performance during the 2017 spring training throwing two shutout innings and striking out three batters.
