The New York Yankees announced in a press release that they recalled first baseman Tyler Austin from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre early Tuesday morning. Austin was sent to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre when first baseman Greg Bird returned from the disabled list, after recovering from right ankle surgery, on Aug. 26. This moves comes as a part of the September roster expansions throughout Major League Baseball. The 25 year old was drafted by the Yankees in the 13th round of the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft from Heritage High School in Conyers, Georgia. Since then, he has hit .233 with two homers and seven RBIs in 10 games with the majors. As of Monday, he hit .289 with eight home runs in 46 games at Triple-A. In Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders’ recent loss against Lehigh Valley IronPigs’, the Georgia native went hit 2-4 with two bombs, two RBIs and one strikeout.
