(ELSA/GETTY IMAGES) Many people within the sports world are coming together in order to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey; even the Yankees and Red Sox. The two teams announced Sunday afternoon that they will be partnering together and raising money by auctioning off various items of autographed team memorabilia from Sunday night’s game at Yankee Stadium. “The effects of this crisis have been felt across the country, including in our own clubhouse where the hearts of many of our players have been with their family and friends who call Texas home,” said Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner. “Tonight, we put our rivalry aside and team up with the Yankees to bring support, attention, and funds to help relief efforts in the aftermath of this tragedy.” Both Yankees and Red Sox items, including game-used jerseys from all players and coaches, will be available for bidding at their designated websites: YANKEES – www.steinersports.com/harvey RED SOX – www.redsox.com/harvey “In difficult times such as this, we stand united with our traditional rival in helping those affected by the hurricane,” said Yankees Managing General Partner Hal Steinbrenner. “We hope that fans are inspired to support the hurricane rescue and recovery efforts in whatever way they can.” Both of the websites are currently live and accepting bids. Prior to the game, Yankees manager Joe Girardi was seen on Twitter wearing a “Texas Forever” t-shirt, explaining the auction and pregame festivities that will be going on on home plate along with Red Sox manager John Farrell.
