Hockey 2020 Metro All-Star Game Recap; Barzal shines in Fastest Skater, Hischier sparkles in All-Star Game by Chris Passarelli January 27, 2020 The Metro Division was well represented during this weekend’s All Star festivities. The four players chosen for the 2020 All Star Game were Mathew Barzal (Islanders), Chris Kreider (Rangers), Nico Hischier (Devils) and Travis Konecny (Flyers). The stars were out all night but the Metro stars came up short. In their first game against the Atlantic Division, the Metro fell 9-5. The Pacific Division wound up winning the $1 Million Dollar Prize, defeating the Atlantic Division. Let’s take a deeper dive into the four stars from the Metro. Mathew Barzal The biggest star of the Skills Competition Friday night was Islanders’ star center Mathew Barzal. Barzy lit it up in the Fastest Skate competition, dethroning three time champ Connor McDavid with a time of 13.175. Barzal also chipped in two assists while on a line with John Carlson and TJ Oshie of the Capitals. Chris Kreider Chris Kreider wasn’t supposed to be here. After Artemi Panarin went down with an upper body injury before the All Star Break, Kreider was chosen to replace him. Kreider finished third in the Fastest Skater competition and did not record a point during the Metro’s lone game. Nico Hischier While Nico Hischier had a rough go of it in the Accuracy Shooting competition, finishing last, he was arguably the Metro’s best player. Hischier finished the Metro’s one game with two goals and one assist. He was the leading scorer for the team. Travis Konecny Travis Konecny also had a bit of a rough time in the Fastest Skater competition. The young forward finished at 14.116 seconds. As for the actual All Star game, Konecny was one of the stars of the game. Travis put up three assists in the 9-5 loss.
