Should the Eagles put the franchise tag on Maclin?

One question that should be answered in the coming weeks is if Jeremy Maclin will get the franchise tag.

We’re not even deep into the NFL offseason, and fans are still asking questions, and daydreaming about how the roster will look come next season. The Eagles have many questions to answer, with such little time in terms of fan patience.

One question that should be answered in the coming weeks is if Jeremy Maclin will get the franchise tag. Maclin purposely signed a one-year deal so that he could put Philadelphia in a tough situation. Maclin had a good season in 2014, maybe not a number one option type of season, but a miraculous season by his standards.

85 receptions for 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns are pretty feasible for a wide receiver coming back from a gruesome injury. Maclin who played in all 16 games has proven he is fully recovered from the torn ACL injury he suffered the year before. Now it’s up to this current organization which is basically under new management to decide if they want Maclin back.

Honestly, bringing back Maclin to pair up with the under-performing Riley Cooper, an emerging 2nd year wideout in Jordan Matthews, and Josh Huff may not work out as Maclin has proven he’s more of a no. 2 receiver.

However we can be rationale here, Maclin did prove to be durable all of last season, and it seems like he fits the mold of what Chip Kelly wants in a wide receiver. The window opens now for the Eagles to tag Maclin or get an extension on the table.
