‘Mr. Tebow goes to Philadelphia’ tops the weekend trends

Former NFL QB, Tim Tebow, made headlines this weekend when news hit that the Philadelphia Eagles plan to put him in an Eagles’ uniform.  According several news sources, including Fox News Tim Tebow is explected to sign with the team today.  Tim has not played in the NFL since 2012, but that is not stopping the Eagles’ coach, Chip Kelly from having faith that he will bring something special to the team.  People might be jumping the gun by assuming that Tim will be starting or even playing on field.  Maybe Chip just wants to have him work out, learn what he knows, and perhaps give him a spot helping to prepare others he has in mind to fill the QB spot.  Tebow previously played with the Patriots, Jets and the Broncos.  He also has experience with attempting to transition from a great college QB to an NFL player.  Maybe Chip might put Tim in a position that allows him to carry the ball, as opposed to throw it.  Who knows what the Eagles’ camp has in store, but it does appear that Tim will be heading to Philadelpia and it will be interesting to see what happens during the upcoming NFL Draft, when both Jameis Winston, and Marcus Mariota. [ Note that according to @DarrenRovell there were at least 98,000 tweets in an hour. ]

The Kansas City Royals hit the trends after an incident that occurred when five of their players were ejected.  According to ESPN.com ‘Royals reliever Kevin Herrera threw a 100 mph fastball shoulder-high behind Brett Lawrie in the eighth inning.’  Tempers flared when Herrera pointed at his head.  The Oakland Athletics’ player @WhatWouldDOOdo took to Twitter after the game . . . for more on the chain of events, you may want to visit www.espn.com  [ It’s crazy, man! ]

~ #NBAPlayoff players

Kyrie Irving scored 30 points in his playoff debut and the Cavs cruised past the Celtics in Game 1 of their NBA Playoff match.  Kevin Love’s name also hit the trends, and most of the tweets commented upon his aggressive play.  In addition, to the tweets about the Cavs-Celtics matchup, there were lots of #NBAPlayoff tweets about the Los Angeles Clippers win over the Spurs.  The Clippers won 107-92 over San Antonio.  For more scores and schedules visit www.nba.com.

~MLB players to trend this weekend included Mike Trout and Alex Rodriquez

Rodriquez his two home runs against Tampa Bay on Friday night.  Some reporters were discussing how these two home runs put him just two behind Willie Mays on the ‘all-time home run list.’  Many of the tweets were suggesting that one should not include Alex on such a list, since his dabbling in performance enhancing drugs excludes him from having any stats that are unblemished.

Mike Trout’s name also hit the twitter boards. Trout become the youngest player to hit 100 home runes, and steal 100 bases.  Trout. the Los Angeles Dodger outfielder is just 23 years old, and is the youngest player to ever join the 100 home run and 100 stolen base club.  For more on this story, you might want to visit sports.yahoo.com

Pete Rose, the former MLB player, who was banned from the league due to betting was trending, too.  That’s because he was hired by Fox Sports to become an analyst for the game.  If you’ve heard Pete talk about baseball before, you probably have little doubt he’s going to be a very colorful commentator.

~  L.A. Kings star player, Jarret Stoll, was arrested in Vegas for suspicion of drug possession. His girlfriend, Erin Andrews, name hit the twitter trends for no reason other than she happens to be dating Stoll and her tweets showing a burning candle, that may or may not have referenced a ‘date night’ were confusing to some who wondered where she was when Stoll was stopped in Vegas.

Lastly, ESPN reporter #BrittMcHenry was the talk on Twitter as many seemed to forget about Aaron Hernandez and his murder 1 conviction when a video showing Britt McHenry’s  rude demeanor went viral, and ESPN suspended the reporter for a week late last week.  Of course, the video was edited and there are two sides to every story, but most tweets seems to discount McHenry’s apology, and find her guilty of being a raging mean girl.  Her actions reacting to her car being towed from a Chinese-restaurant were caught on camera, and initially most tweets faulted McHenry for her tirade toward the clerk.  Should ESPN have fired the reporter for a tirade that had nothing to do with her behavior at work?  Should she have been suspended?  Or was it ridiculous to even give it any attention?  Various reporters commented on the story including those at USA Today, as well as, the New York Post.  For more on this story, you can visit my site www.verysexysports.com , to learn more about my point of view on this story.
