Hockey Jeff Gorton Re-signs JT Miller and Jesper Fast within Hours on July 15 Miller played in 58 games with NY in 2015 by Staff Post July 15, 2015 JT Miller (NHL.com) New Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton does not let the grass grow under his feet, as he re-signed two more valuable pieces of the Broadway Blueshirts today. JT Miller and Jesper Fast were re-signed hours after Dylan McIlrath was re-signed. Fast re-signed first, to a two year deal worth $950,000.00 per season. The 23 year old, 6-0 185 pound forward was recalled to the Rangers on November 10, 2014 and stayed until the end of their playoff run. He also became the first NY Ranger in the modern era (since 1943-44) to play in 13 consecutive victories. The streak began on December 8 versus Pittsburgh and extended to January 10 at San Jose. In the 58 regular season games that Jesper played this season, he scored six goals and eight assists for 14 points. He then added three goals and three assists for six points in 19 playoff games. The Nassjo, Sweden native is now locked in for the next two seasons with the Broadway Blueshirts; which will prove to be very exciting years. Also on Wednesday, Jeff re-signed JT Miller to a one year deal worth $874,104.00; which allowed Miller to be able to go to arbitration next season as well. The 22 year old Miller also played in 58 regular season games with the Rangers this past season. JT scored 10 goals and added 13 assists for a total of 23 points. The 6-1, 200 pound native of East Palestine, Ohio then added one goal and seven assists for eight points in 19 playoff games. Jeff now has only RFA Derek Stepan to re-sign and the Rangers roster for 2015-16 will be set, barring of course any trades. I will be watching social media very closely, as I believe Steps will sign before his arbitration hearing that is set for July 27.
