After improving to 20 straight wins Thursday night with a win over Edina Kiss, undefeated WBC women’s boxing champion Heather “The Heat” Hardy suggests something you may not suspect.

A spot on the Bellator 180/Bellator NYC card at Madison Square Garden on June 24. The suggestion first popped up on Instagram from Daniel Gracie, owner of Renzo Gracies in Philly. Hardy then reposted it herself.

The women’s featherweight bout took place on the Broadway Boxing card at the Paramount Theater at Long Island University in Brooklyn Thursday night.

Hardy (20-0) was originally set to make her MMA debut in January with all-female promotion, Invicta FC. Two days before bout, her opponent withdrew due to injury. Since then Hardy has continued her MMA training, not putting the idea aside of her stepping into the cage.

Over the years, and more so recently, “The Heat” has been very vocal about her lack-off promotion in professional boxing. A dominant women’s champion with a huge following in Brooklyn is perfect for televised fight cards. Unfortunately, she is usually a swing bout or an opener. Something unheard of for as many ticket sales as she does in her home-borough.

Bellator MMA has a strong female flyweight division. More so since the UFC is only just starting theirs now. To add Hardy to the card would be a great addition, but with just a little over a month out is unlikely, but still possible.

Bellator in New York City

This is the second pay-per-view in Bellator history. Bellator 180 will be the televised card airing at 8pm on Spike TV, just before switching to PPV at 10pm on Saturday, June 24.

Tickets for Bellator NY/Bellator 180 may be purchased through Ticketmaster.com or the Garden box office.
