Photo Courtesy of Ronni Kurtz, Unsplash Baseball Cardinals, Brewers game postponed; potential COVID-19 outbreak by Peter Snyder July 31, 2020 As the bomb continues to tick, it has seemed as if baseball has just taken another blow… Moments ago, it was announced that Friday’s matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers would be postponed after multiple members of the Cardinals organization tested positive for the coronavirus. Positive coronavirus tests with the St. Louis Cardinals have postponed their game against the Milwaukee Brewers, a source tells ESPN, confirming the @jonheyman report. Unclear how many, but to this point positives had been limited to teams in the East. Now in the Central, too. — Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) July 31, 2020 The Brewers-Cardinals game was scheduled to take place at 2:10 PM ET and would have been Milwaukee’s home opener. This news comes fresh off the helm of the Marlins outbreak, which has seen 19 members of their organization test positive and have kept them sidelined since Sunday. Marlins have 1 more positive test. That’s 18 out of 30 players or 60 percent @hgomez21st — Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) July 31, 2020 It is important to note just how serious this situation currently is. Tonight, the Marlins, Nationals, Brewers, Cardinals, Phillies and Blue Jays are all not playing baseball games because of COVID-related postponements. That is 20% of Major League Baseball. Things HAVE to change. As much as it pains me to say, this Brewers-Cardinals game is just another example of risk. It is only a matter of time before this bomb goes off.
