Baseball Chad Green demoted to AAA, Clint Frazier added to IL by Chris Passarelli April 25, 2019 The Yankees suffered two blows to their already battered team; One of them is injury related, the other self-inflicted. The Yankees optioned Chad Green and Kyle Higashioka to AAA SWB to bring up Gary Sanchez and Stephen Tarpley, and Clint Frazier was sent to the Injured List after suffering what’s assumed to be a “slight tear” in his ankle. Frazier had missed Wednesday night’s game after sliding in awkwardly to second base Tuesday night. For Green, it’s a much needed wake-up call. After being one of the best relievers in baseball in 2017, Green regressed a bit in 2018 and has completely imploded so far in 2019. He has pitched 7 2/3 innings and given up 14 runs. He currently has a 16.43 ERA and has looked completely lost. Going down to AAA will help him gain confidence and figure out whatever has been bothering him, whether it be mechanical or mental. As for Frazier, it’s just another blow to the Yankees’ lineup. Frazier is one of the hottest hitters in baseball and having him on the sideline for an extended period of time will just be one more hurdle this Yankee team needs to overcome. With Giancarlo Stanton close to returning, it softens the blow a bit but Frazier is still a huge loss. Hopefully his tear isn’t significant and he’ll only be on the IL for the minimum time period.
