Baseball Chad Green Has Career Night, Strikes Out 11 in Yankees 1-0 Win by Staff Post August 16, 2016 Chad Green (Photo: Ross D. On Monday night, they got just that, as Chad Green dominated the Toronto Blue Jays, leading the Yankees to a 1-0 win at home. Green struck out a career high 11 and allowed two hits in six innings pitched. Green was on top of his game, bringing an explosive fastball that was in the mid 90s and a slick slider that had the Blue Jays’ hitters off balance. This start by Green is definitely an encouraging one because the Blue Jays are one of the best offensive teams in the league. It’s also encouraging because the emphasis for the Yankees ever since the trades of Aroldis Chapman, Andrew Miller, Ivan Nova, and Carlos Beltran has been the youth movement. A start like this for Green, especially with the Yankees still in the hunt for the second wildcard spot, will be a huge confidence boost for him. Some will say it was just Green’s night, which is partially true, but Green has the stuff to be an effective starter for the Yankees now and in the future. It’s consistency and trusting it every outing that’s key for him. If he does that, the Yankees may have themselves another steal that will give Yankees’ fans another reason to be excited about the future.
