NEWS Competition Quickly Rises For Serie A by Katie Malespina February 10, 2021 Competition Rises For Serie A: Serie A is a professional Italian Soccer league where players get to compete to win the Scudetto Award and as well as the Coppa Campioni d’Italia. The league has been around since 1898, but the award didn’t come around until 1961. Serie A has some of soccer’s best players such as; Christiano Renaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Covid-19 has hit the league and their broadcast revenue as well as the player’s finances. Luckily, The Italian Soccer league is now in high demand because their league’s rights are now obtainable to whoever wishes to own them. Amazon is going to try to gain the rights to Serie A. They want to be streaming the soccer leagues exclusively to their prime members. According to Bloomberg, “The league set at Jan. 26 deadline to sell rights to the next three seasons, seeking at least 1.15 billion euros ($1.4 billion) apiece, according to the people.” Amazon isn’t the only company to bid for them. CVS Capital Partners and Advent International have both agreed to become owners of the new media that were made by the soccer league.
