Devils Begin Preseason With Split Squad Wins

With two different pre-season games in one night, it was a big Double W for the New Jersey Devils.

The squad was split in two with Adam Henrique, Taylor Hall and Devante Smith-Pelly leading their squad to a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadians in Montreal.

Scott Wedgewood got the start in goal and saved 26 of 27 in his two periods on the ice.  Mackenzie Blackwood had 13 saves in the third period for the Devils. Henrique scored twice on the power play and prospect Michael Mcleod scored the game winner.  For the Habs, goals were scored by Markus Eisenschmid and Zach Redmond.

On home ice at the Rock, the Devils took on the Philadelphia Flyers who were also playing a split squad with the Islanders.  Skating for the Devils were Travis Zajac, Mike Cammalleri and former Penguin Ben Lovejoy who shut out the Flyers 2-0.

The Devils home game featured a more composed line up of potential starters and personal that we will most likely be seeing on the ice consistently throughout this season.  Keith Kinkaid got the start and saved six shots on goal during his half of the game.  Scoring the Devils two goals was Nick Lappin, a prospect that just signed a 2-year contract with the AHL affiliate in Albany.
