Domingo German placed in administrative leave under MLB’s domestic violence policy

Well, it’s not the kind of news you want to see drop in the middle of a playoff run, on all accounts. First reported by Linsdeey Adler, Domingo German has been placed in administrative leave under MLB’s domestic violence policy.

What does that mean for German? Well it means that he will be away from the team for at least a week while an investigation goes on regarding the domestic violence claim. The leave may be extended if further investigation is needed or for any other reason deemed fit by Major League Baseball.

From a personal standpoint, it’s disappointing to see German caught up in an accusation like this. Obviously in this country it’s always innocent until proven guilty, but just the fact that Major League Baseball deemed this necessary isn’t a good look.

From a professional standpoint, depending on if German is cleared or not, C.C. Sabathia may be back in the fold as the long bullpen man on the Yankees’ playoff roster. German was supposed to be slated as that, and possibly a potential starter, before this news came out.

Overall, it’s a tough pill to swallow for the Yankees and Yankees fans. We will continue to monitor the investigation and update with any breaking news regarding the domestic violence claim.
