Eight NY Rangers Receive Qualifying Offers

Stepan, Miller receive offers.

President and GM Glen Sather had until 5:00PM EST on Monday June 29, to send qualifying offers to whichever players on the New York Rangers that were either a RFA or a UFA. He sent out eight of them.

The players that received those offers were the following: Derek Stepan, JT Miller, Jesper Fast, newly acquired Emerson Etem, Dylan McIlrath, Oscar Lindberg, Mat Bodie and Marek Hrivik. The Rangers will retain their rights and now look to re-sign them.

In the case of Emerson Etem, acquired from the Anaheim Ducks in the Carl Hagelin trade on Saturday, the Rangers will sign the young forward who is not arbitration eligible.

The one player not to receive a qualifying offer that many believed would, was defenseman Conor Allen. Just goes to show you how difficult it is to make it to the NHL.

Of the others, I believe all will be signed and I look for big years from Steps, JT and Jesper. Etem will enjoy a change of scenery and will fit in with HC Alain Vigneault’s style.

I also believe that Dylan McIlrath will work out well at training camp and make the team. Oscar Lindberg and former Minnesota Golden Gopher, Defenseman Brady Skjei (pronounced SHEA, as in Stadium) will join the team sometime after Christmas.

Look for these signings to begin later this week or during the first few weeks of July.
