Hockey Henrik Lundqvist Wins 2015 Double G Sports Award for Male Athlete of the Year by Gregg Snyder January 26, 2016 (AP Photo/Gene J. Puskar) (The Associated Press) Double G Media announced the winners of their 2015 Double G Sports Awards earlier this week. New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist was named the Male Athlete of the Year, edging out Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets, Brett Gardner of the New York Yankees, and John Tavares of the New York Islanders. Lundqvist led the Rangers to the Eastern Conference Finals before they lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Lundqvist posted a 30 wins, 13 losses, and three overtime losses in 46 games. His goals against average of 2.25 was seventh in the league. Lundqvist is once again leading the team in goal and the Rangers are once again in the thick of the playoff race and currently sit in second place in the Metropolitan Division.
