MMA Here we go! Khabib and McGregor to face off in NYC before UFC 229 fight What will happen when two of the best fighters in UFC today return to the city where all the drama started? by Daniel Yanofsky September 12, 2018 One of the most anticipated bouts in MMA history may be taking place at UFC 229 on October 6 in Las Vegas, but everyone knows all roads lead through New York. UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor will head back to the state where it all started for the first press conference between the two. New York City’s Radio Music Hall will host the event on Thursday, September 20 at 5 p.m. ET. The event will be streamed online and will be closed to the public. https://twitter.com/ufc/status/1039936002809163776 The last time these two were in the same place in New York, things got a little hectic. Before UFC 223 in Brooklyn, Khabib (26-0) and his team confronted McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov. After hearing about the confrontation, McGregor (21-3) took a plane to Brooklyn, looking to find Khabib. McGregor was later arrested and charged with assault. A memorable moment from that melee was him throwing a dolly at a bus filled with MMA fighters, with the damage causing multiple fights to be called off before UFC 223 started. Conor later accepted a plea deal, making him a (somewhat) free man. The fight between the two was made immediately after. UFC President Dana White is expected to be at the event. UFC 230 takes place inside Madison Square Garden a few weeks after the Khabib/McGregor bout. There may be a possibility the main event of the show will be announced during this press conference. What will happen when two of these fighters finally face off? Will Khabib remain calm while McGregor returns to his rowdy ways when it comes to mic time? The mind games officially begin in The Big Apple, are you ready? Post Views: 1,237 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Daniel Yanofsky Baseball Editor, Misc. Sports Editor.
