Islanders Announce Season-Opening 23-Man Roster

22 of 23 players on current roster suited up for Isles last season.

The New York Islanders have announced the 23-man roster that will take the ice opening night, Friday, Oct. 6 in Columbus against the Blue Jackets.

The roster includes 13 forwards, eight defenseman, and two goalies. The team will mix some youth with veteran players. Three players are 21 years of age or younger. The three players – Joshua Ho-Sang, Mathew Barzal, and Anthony Beauvillier – all made their NHL debuts last season.

22 of the 23 players on the opening roster for the Islanders have suited up for the team last season. The only newcomer is forward, Jordan Eberle.

The Islanders are once again led by captain, and top point scorer, John Tavares. Tavares registered 66 points during the 2016-17 season, followed by Josh Bailey (56) and Anders Lee (52).

After seven years in Edmonton, Eberle comes to Brooklyn and will provide the Islanders another scoring threat. Last season with the Oilers, Eberle registered 51 points (20 goals, 31 assists).
