FootballJersey Flight Join National Arena League for 2020 Season by Stephen Ur October 25, 2019 The Jersey Flight have announced that they are joining the National Arena League for the 2020 season. They are the second team to join the league in two days, joining the West Virginia Roughriders.After signing with the league as an expansion franchise in 2017, the Flight left to join the American Arena League. They played their last two seasons in the AAL under two different head coache. Jake Grande was the coach in 2017. Nick Coppola took over in 2018.The Flight missed the playoffs in 2018, but did make it in 2019, which they lost to the Roughriders in a first-round matchup. They will be under a third head coach in three seasons in 2020, who has yet to be announced.Home games will continue to be played at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, NJ. The Flight have played their home games there each of the last two seasons.“On behalf of the Flight Crew and Trenton, NJ, we are exhilarated to represent this wonderful league in the 2020 season,” Flight owner Jay Sababu said in a league press release. “I would like to thank my new NAL partners as well as Commissioner Siegfried for welcoming us into the National Arena League. We look forward to giving the people of New Jersey and the surrounding areas a highly competitive, family-friendly, entertaining product at affordable prices.”Preparing For TakeoffThe Flight are the seventh team in the NAL for the 2020 season and the third in the northeast, joining the Roughriders and Massachusetts Pirates. The other four teams in the southeast are the Columbus Lions, Carolina Cobras, Jacksonville Sharks and Orlando Predators.The Flight schedule will be released in the coming weeks. Games expected to kick off in April. The league championship will be played in Aug. 2020. It will be the league’s fourth season.
