Jets Develop No Fly Zone, acquire Antonio Cromartie

The addition of Antonio Cromartie could make it nearly impossible to throw the ball against the Jets next season.

Any NFL fan can tell you that Jets had one of the best shut down corners in the league last year in Darrelle Revis. Now, by adding another top corner, the New York Jets may just have the best cornerback duo in the NFL.

Free Agency begins today but the Jets made a trade to improve their already top defense. New York is sending a third round pick in 2011 to the San Diego Chargers for Antonio Cromartie.

Cromartie gives the Jets a pair of corners that have elite speed and coverage ability. Plus, they are both just 25 years old.

He does come with some baggage however. Cromartie brings off-field issues with him. Maybe a change of scenery will help this freakishly athletic star mature and become a solid all around player. He has the abilities to be as good as Revis, its just a mature of maturing and focusing on football. Rex Ryan’s tough guy attitude may help this.

Cromartie only had three interceptions last season, but three years ago he had 10.

It was tough to throw against the Jets top defense last season but their one weakness was cornerback Lito Sheppard. After releasing Sheppard, the Jets knew they needed an upgrade at corner. The combination of Ryan’s defense ideas and Cromartie’s ball hawking skills and athleticism could make it nearly impossible to attack the Jets through the air.

These Jets will rule the airways. There will be no flying against the 2010 New York Jets.
