This is going to change tomorrow because Michigan has legalized online betting and online gambling. On Friday, January 22, 2021, those 21 and over in Michigan will be able to place sports bets and gamble either on their computer, but more likely on their phones. At noon this Friday, nine online betting/gambling services will go live. Online sports betting and gambling services including FanDuel and DraftKings partnered with local casinos to set up websites and apps which can be used to place bets and gamble on. State regulators have authorized licenses for all of the three casinos in Detroit and several tribal casinos as well. Online Sports Betting and Gambling is a Step Towards the Future Having online services like this means sports fans and gamblers can place bets or gamble anywhere using these online services. Services like this are becoming more popular due to the Pandemic. These services will make more people stay at home instead of going to a casino, but casinos are still getting revenue from these online services. Richard Kalm who is the Executive Director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board made a statement about online gambling and betting. Kalm said, “Michigan residents love sports and, judging by inquiries we’ve received, eagerly anticipate using mobile devices to place bets through the commercial and tribal casinos. Online gaming and sports betting will provide the casinos with new ways to engage with customers while the state and local communities will benefit from taxes and payments on wagering revenue.” Michigan Legalizing online sports betting and gambling is the right decision. It will allow casinos to engage with their customers who aren’t able to visit and also produce tax revenue that can go back into local communities. This is something seen throughout the United States because of how popular sports betting and gambling are Post Views: 338 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Inesh Chari Living in Watchung, New Jersey and a senior at the University of Rhode Island majoring in Communication Studies.
